We met the modern way—on Bumble—but we’re both convinced it was anything but random. Marlena signed on earlier than she planned. Jacob was about to sign off. Looking back, we know now it wasn’t coincidence—it was God’s timing.

Our first date was meant to be just an hour over coffee. But the conversation flowed so easily that two hours flew by before Marlena had to rush home—only because people were waiting at her house. From the very beginning, something felt different—intentional, peaceful, right.

Our second date involved saving the world from a gang of rogue cats (escape room, of course). What started as a fun afternoon turned into over seven hours of laughter, delicious food, and deep, meandering conversation that neither of us wanted to end. By the time we said goodnight, our next date was already on the calendar.

The months that followed felt like something out of a Hallmark movie—full of joy and growing affection. There were flower-filled strolls through Gibbs Gardens, magical days at Biltmore, sunrise and sunset mountain drives, and a quiet, steady sense that we were being guided toward something lasting.

On New Year’s Day, Jacob told Marlena he loved her. He was nervous. She didn’t hesitate for a second. We both knew—God had been writing this story long before we ever met.

Since then, we’ve shared countless firepit chats, long walks, and cozy evenings with our three sweet dogs. Our love has deepened, our laughter has grown louder, and our hearts more full. Through it all, our faith has remained at the center—guiding our steps, grounding our hearts, and reminding us that love is both a gift and a calling.

One warm May evening, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains at Pretty Place Chapel, Jacob got down on one knee and asked Marlena to be his always. With happy tears and a full heart, she said yes.

We’re so grateful for the gentle way God brought us together and all the grace He’s shown along the way. We can’t wait to begin this next chapter—building a life, a home, and a future rooted in faith, love, and a whole lot of joy.
